Inflammatory and Coagulation Markers

Critical Observations

• Initial Presentation: Note the subtle laboratory abnormalities: thrombocytopenia (105), lymphopenia (0.4), and mildly elevated INR (1.12) despite normal WBC and only slightly elevated CRP
• Early Warning Pattern: Rapid fall in WBC and platelets with rising lactate, before the appearance of rash
• Disease Progression: WBC initially falls then dramatically increases as the patient deteriorates
• Severe Phase: Platelets reach nadir as INR peaks with markedly elevated CRP and WBC
• Recovery Phase: Resolution of coagulation abnormalities precedes platelet recovery
